Whatever the Weather
|
Artists have always been observing and saying something about themselves through the weather. Storms in particular were and still are a popular motif. JMW Turner lashed himself to a ships mast in order to experience and record a storm. Joan Eardley asked her neighbours in the village of Catterline to let her know when a storm was on its way so that she could set up her large canvasses on the beach and paint the stormy sea. Thankfully the weather can provide interest when the sunshines or the rain falls. In this workshop we will explore ideas; soundscapes, mark making, materials which we can utilise to express, imagine and give new dimensions to our landscape work. |
