The Kitchen Table
|
A five week feast of drawing, printmaking, mixed media and painting that will take inspiration from the moments, motifs and ephemera of the everyday domestic.
Throughout the course we will go on a varied visual journey all around the kitchen responding through different media and techniques to kitchenalia - pots, pans and utensils, feasts of food, flowers and seasonal produce, table settings, still lives and more. We will be guided on our exploration by a diverse mix of artists including, but not limited to, William Scott, Henri Matisse, Winifred Nicholson and Anne Redpath as we explore drawing, colour and collage, monoprinting, arranging sets and depicting the tabletop space as we build towards creating a small body of more personal work on the kitchen theme. The kitchen is the hub of our domestic environment - where we create, cook, eat, gather and live out our everyday lives. This course will encourage you to look at this environment with a more conscious eye - opening up a rich and colourful world of visual and artistic possibilities. |
