Since graduating from Edinburgh College of art in 1993, Esther has exhibited and sold work regularly in galleries across Britain, including the RSA, SSA the RSW, the RBA, Mall Galleries and most recently in the Royal Academy summer exhibition, London, where her work was selected to be in the Academician’s favourites list.  She was  elected as a professional member of the Society of Scottish Artists in 2018.

She was awarded the ‘House for an Art Lover Award’ in the RSW at the RSA in 2018 and has received a VACM Award from East Lothian Council in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Her portrait paining 'Yellow Top' was awarded the 'Winsor Newton Award' at the Royal Watercolour Society at the Bankside Gallery, London.

Working outdoors from the local beach and harbour in Cockenzie and Port Seton, absorbing the sounds, smells and sights, we will start by sketching images, textures and shapes which will be used back in the studio to create monoprints on the first day.

The second day will, again, involve a trip outdoors to sketch, building on what was created the first day. Back in the studio we will use this information to develop further monoprints and collage to create large scale pieces.

We will look at the work of a selection of inspiring artists past and present who use the coastline and sea as inspiration.
