Print the Kitchen - A Weekend of Experimental Monotype
|
This will be a fun weekend of experimental monotype printmaking with simple materials and using everyday kitchen objects as subject matter to make a plethora of prints.
Monotype printmaking offers up an array of exciting and varied possibilities that are accessible and highly creative for the home printmaker. We will explore lots of these - working with trace monotype, reductive monotype, painterly monotypes and building up to working in layers and then working back into prints. On day one we will work in monochrome and after trying out and combining a variety of approaches will work towards a composite piece of work. On day two we will move into colour and make more painterly monotypes - playing with layering and working back into prints as we work towards making a small series of prints. The premise of this course is that monotype rewards an approach of experimentation and play always leading to surprising results! We will work in both colour and monochrome and you can expect to generate a lot of beautiful prints. |
