On this four day course, we will take the garden and plants at Cockenzie House as inspiration and source material to experiment with a range of nature based creative processes.
We will make plant dyes and inks to use for drawings on paper and fabric. We will try processes such as hapazome, or leaf-tapping, transferring plant pigments directly onto fabric using a hammering technique. We will also explore camera-less photographic processes such as anthotype, cyanotype and lumen. Participants will also have the opportunity to pursue their own individual explorations and projects using the processes described above and are encouraged to bring along plant material from their own gardens and locality. |
