Using the garden at Cockenzie House as the starting point, this one-day workshop will introduce ways of mark-making through drawing and printmaking, focussing on the shapes and patterns of the plants. These botanical pages will then be developed into simple artist books which move and unfold in order to convey a feeling of growth.
The work of artists Patrick Heron, Tom and Laurie Clark, Chloe Briggs and Jenny Purrett will be looked at in order to understand the varied approaches to describing the natural world.
