Indoor Garden - Online Workshop
|
This three-day online workshop invites you to look afresh at your own collection of houseplants and garden flowers as an exciting subject to explore through drawing and painting. The workshop is designed to guide you through the process of making a still life painting using drawing and painting exercises to really explore the subject and develop new ideas. It begins with an introduction to still life painting. You will also look at the work of artists who have used indoor plants as a motif in their work including Winifred Nicholson, Elizabeth Blackadder and Matisse. You will be taken through the main stages of making a painting from generating initial ideas to developing a strong composition and finally, taking your ideas into a painting which can be finished in your own time. Expect to work in bold colour with simplified forms.
With plenty of demonstrations and group feedback, you will have the opportunity to explore new ways of looking at and working from your own indoor garden-scape! Day 1 – Drawing: exploring the subject matter through different drawing exercises Day 2 – Composition: playing with placement and dynamic composition Day 3 – Painting: developing your own personal response using paint Artists to inspire – Winifred Nicholson, Elizabeth Blackadder, Jim Dine, Henri Matisse, Duncan Shanks, Horst Janssen, Georgia O’Keeffe, Jean Cooke |
