Since graduating from Edinburgh College of art in 1993, Esther has exhibited and sold work regularly in galleries across Britain, including the RSA, SSA the RSW, the RBA, Mall Galleries and most recently in the Royal Academy summer exhibition, London, where her work was selected to be in the Academician’s favourites list.  She was  elected as a professional member of the Society of Scottish Artists in 2018.

She was awarded the ‘House for an Art Lover Award’ in the RSW at the RSA in 2018 and has received a VACM Award from East Lothian Council in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

Her portrait paining 'Yellow Top' was awarded the 'Winsor Newton Award' at the Royal Watercolour Society at the Bankside Gallery, London.

This 2 Day workshop will take inspiration from some of the 5 existing churches in Cockenzie and Port Seton.

Beginning by drawing on location, we will consider the form, structure and feeling of these iconic architectural forms.  Looking at Artists both past and present, we will find ways to respond to the buildings  that allow us to capture something of their essence and presense.

Returning to the studio,  we will then use our findings to make collages of drawing, print and paint in order to create a series of exciting and unique pieces in response to these ancient buildings.
