Owen is an award winning still life and figure artist and was the winner of BP Portrait Award Young Artist Prize in 2013.  He studied at Leith School of Art and then went on to graduate from Edinburgh School of Art in 2008.  

​He spent several years living and working in Berlin while exhibiting around the world including London, New York and Edinburgh.  Owen has now returned to Scotland and as he was named as one of 15 emerging artists of great promise from around the world by Rebecca Wilson, Saatchi Art's Chief Curator.

This one day course will be a playful look at how we can better understand what contemporary painting is and how to apply these ideas to our own work, whatever style or genre we favour.

We will explore the work of some exciting contemporary painters and look at how their work connects to the rich traditions of painting in art history. Taking these artist's work as inspiration, we will work up our own painting in the studio in either oil or acrylic.  Participants will choose their own stimulus of choice to work from.
