Jemma Derbyshire is a Painter living and working in Edinburgh and East Lothian. Her work is exhibited widely and held in National Collections. Jemma is a founding member of Paintbox, and teaching is her greatest passion.
Using the landscape surrounding the studio, the course will explore how to move you work towards abstraction.
Starting by making drawings directly from observation, you will then be guided through a series of processes and ways of thinking to enable you to begin thinking and seeing in abstract way.
Inspired by the St Ives movement of painting, students will explore shape, space, colour and surface with a view to make a series of both small and large abstracted paintings.
